You Have To Love The Resourcefulness Of The Internet

Hotspot Shield

When there is a will, someone will find a way, especially when it comes to the Internet. Recently I was reading an article about how to access content on the Internet that is meant only for USA viewers. I hadn't really been trying to access USA content although in the past I have been frustrated when shut out of content that wasn't permitted for Canadian, or any non USA citizen. The kind of thing that I am talking about is a site that offers USA citizens TV shows and sports, etc. They don't want to share it with anyone else. The site will tell you that there is a licensing issue and that the site content is not available to you in your country. What's really annoying about this is that you can get the content on the television, just not on the Internet.

The article intrigued me so I decided to give it a try. It pointed to a freeware application created to allow you anonymous web surfing. A lot of people use the program to give them a USA based IP address. This particular application is called 'Hotspot Shield'.

Hotspot Shield connects you to a virtual private network through which you can do your web browsing. It hides your IP address thereby masking the fact that you are from outside the USA when you are trying to connect to USA only content. It really works. I was able to connect to Hulu which previously shut me out of viewing it's content. So now I can browse their programming, I don't have to be left out of the party. I can find out what all the excitement is about with the latest merger between Disney and Hulu. What's more amazing than the USA web content I now get to access is the fact that I can access it. You really have to admire the resourcefulness and ingenuity of people on the Internet who figure out this kind of thing and pass it along to others.
