Joe Joomla? We didn't get it at first either. It all started with a simple question in the joomla.org forums, "JoeJoomla - What are you trying to say with your user icon?"

So who is this character JoeJoomla? Well his name really is Joe. The way the story goes is that Joe wondered over to joomla.org in order to register for the Joomla! forums. He needed a user name. Since his name is Joe and the forums are about Joomla! it seemed that JoeJoomla would be easy to remember. Once registered as JoeJoomla he filled out some information in his profile and included a picture that he had been using as an avatar for an instant messaging account. It was similar the picture you see here at the beginning of this article. Joe didn't think much about it until someone asked him "I've been wondering about the Superman outfit and the name JoeJoomla. LOTS of fun!!!! What are you trying to say?" That question lead to a spontaneous, wild, and whacky thread that shot up into the top 10 topics by posts on joomla.org. It got moved to the joomla.org Humour Zone and then eventually removed from joomla.org altogether after almost 1,000 posts. The people who participated in the "What are you trying to say with your user icon..." thread decided it would be good to have a place of their own to continue their newfound friendships with one another, thus joejoomla.com was born.
